Chelsea have been hit with a £10.75 million fine and a suspended one-year transfer ban following historical breaches of Premier League rules. The London club also faces an immediate nine-month academy transfer ban. These sanctions stem from undisclosed payments made between 2011 and 2018 to players, unregistered agents, and third parties.

The Premier League's investigation found that even if these payments had been properly disclosed, Chelsea would not have violated profitability and sustainability rules. The league considered the club's proactive self-reporting and exceptional cooperation as mitigating factors in determining the punishment. Chelsea's new owners, led by Todd Boehly, shared information about these historical breaches after acquiring the club from Roman Abramovich in 2022.

Additionally, Chelsea has been charged by the Football Association with 74 alleged breaches of its rules related to the same historical issues. In a statement, the club emphasized its voluntary disclosure of potential rule violations and its comprehensive cooperation throughout the investigation, welcoming the Premier League's recognition of its exceptional assistance.
