The former Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder signed as a free agent through the 2027 MLS Sprint season with an option to extend until June 2029. He left Manchester United when his contract expired June 30.

Casemiro said he prioritized Inter Miami over other MLS teams, citing the project and chance to play with Lionel Messi. He will not occupy a designated player slot; the club's three DPs are Lionel Messi, Rodrigo De Paul, and Germán Berterame.

MLS is reviewing a tampering allegation from LA Galaxy regarding contact with Casemiro without acquiring his Discovery Priority. Casemiro stated he made clear to the Galaxy he only wanted to join Inter Miami. Though the clubs reached a settlement for the Discovery Priority, the league continues its review.
