Bayern Munich teenager Lennart Karl earned his first Germany call-up Thursday after an impressive Champions League breakout. The 18-year-old forward was summoned by coach Julian Nagelsmann following his standout performance against Atalanta, where he set up one goal and scored another in Bayern's 10-2 aggregate victory.

Karl's call-up comes after he became Bayern's youngest Champions League goal-scorer on his first start in October. He has since tallied four goals and two assists in his first seven UCL games, making him one of the competition's breakout young stars. Real Madrid defender Antonio Rüdiger also returns to the squad for the first time since September after recovering from a hamstring injury.

Bayern teammate Jonas Urbig received his first international call-up as well, stepping in while Manuel Neuer battles calf injuries. Germany faces Switzerland in a friendly on March 27 before hosting Ghana three days later as it prepares for the World Cup. The four-time men's champion is grouped with Curacao, Ivory Coast, and Ecuador in the tournament.
