Monaco have secured Ansu Fati from Barcelona on a permanent deal worth approximately £9.5 million ($12.5m/€11m). The 23-year-old forward has signed a four-year contract through 2030, ending his 15-year association with the Catalan club. Fati first emerged as a 16-year-old sensation in 2019, scoring eight goals in his breakthrough campaign.

A serious knee injury in November 2020 derailed his progress, and despite inheriting Barcelona's iconic No.10 shirt when Messi departed, Fati never recaptured his pre-injury form. Various niggles continued to disrupt his development, leading to a loan spell at Brighton in 2023 where injuries again limited playing time.

Last season's loan at Monaco proved successful, with Fati netting 12 goals in 30 appearances across all competitions. He returned to Barcelona for the 2024-25 campaign but failed to secure regular minutes under manager Hansi Flick. Across his Barcelona career, Fati scored 29 goals in 123 appearances.

The Spanish international, who earned 10 caps including World Cup selection in 2022, now seeks to revive his career in Ligue 1. This permanent move offers stability after years of injury setbacks and uncertainty.
