Alex Carpenter will remain with the Seattle Torrent while Sarah Nurse stays in Vancouver after both veterans secured protection through new contract extensions. Each player re-signed on Tuesday, with Carpenter inking a three-year deal and Nurse agreeing to a two-year contract. Both were entering contract years, having earned $90,000 and $85,000 respectively last season.

Carpenter led Seattle's inaugural campaign with 12 goals and 20 points, while dominating the faceoff circle with 440 wins that topped the entire PWHL. The three-time U.S. Olympian ranks third in league history with 31 career goals. Her presence gives Seattle a cornerstone for their next phase.

Nurse matched the Goldeneyes' team lead with nine goals despite missing 11 games to injury, scoring Vancouver's first-ever goal. The three-time Canadian Olympian previously starred in Toronto before joining the expansion club. Both signings occurred during the first phase of expansion distribution, where each existing team protects three contracted players.

The protected players become unavailable to expansion clubs Detroit, Las Vegas, San Jose, and Hamilton when the signing period opens Friday. These re-signings ensure continuity for two franchises while limiting the talent pool available to incoming teams.
