Anthony Stolarz left Wednesday's Maple Leafs game against Washington early in the first period with a lower-body injury after stretching to stop a shot from distance. The 32-year-old goalie collapsed on the ice, pulled off his mask, and was attended to by trainers before being helped off by teammates. Joseph Woll replaced him in goal for the Leafs, who are now set to miss the playoffs for the first time since 2016. Stolarz, who missed time earlier this season with an upper-body injury, has struggled with consistency, posting a 10-10-3 record with a .892 save percentage and 3.29 GAA this season.

Woll, meanwhile, has a 15-14-7 record with a .902 save percentage and 3.32 GAA in 2025-26.
