The Winnipeg Jets and center Cole Perfetti have agreed to a 5-year contract worth $30 million, avoiding salary arbitration. The deal carries a $6 million cap hit and will keep Perfetti with the Jets through the 2031 season, after which he will be eligible for unrestricted free agency.

Perfetti, 24, was scheduled for a salary arbitration hearing on July 20. He was coming off a 2-year bridge contract with an average annual value of $3.25 million. The Jets originally drafted Perfetti 10th overall in 2020.

Last season, Perfetti recorded 12 goals and 20 assists for 32 points in 68 games. For his NHL career, he has accumulated 59 goals and 98 assists for 157 points in 290 games. The Jets' offseason has also been marked by trade speculation surrounding goalie Connor Hellebuyck.
