Kevin Fiala underwent successful surgery on his fractured left lower leg, with the Los Angeles Kings confirming the star forward will miss the remainder of the regular season. The 29-year-old winger suffered the injury during Olympic play when his leg became tangled with Tom Wilson's in Canada's 5-1 victory.

Fiala was stretchered off the ice with an air cast after the collision with 2:57 remaining in the third period. No penalty was called on the play, with Swiss coach Patrick Fischer calling it accidental. Wilson expressed sympathy for Fiala, acknowledging how devastating such injuries are during tournament play.

The injury presents a significant challenge for the Kings, who sit three points out of a playoff spot in the Western Conference. Fiala ranks second on the team with 40 points and 18 goals in 56 games, making his absence particularly problematic despite the recent addition of Artemi Panarin. Teammate Adrian Kempe expressed sadness, noting how much Fiala means to the team.
