The Anaheim Ducks will retire longtime captain Ryan Getzlaf's No. 15 during a ceremony Jan. 30. Owners Henry and Susan Samueli announced the honor for Getzlaf, who retired in April 2022 after a 17-year NHL career entirely in Anaheim.

Getzlaf is the Ducks' top scorer with 1,019 points in a franchise-record 1,157 games, also leading in assists and playoff scoring. He captained the team for 12 seasons, the longest tenure in club history, and won a Stanley Cup in 2007 plus Olympic gold with Canada in 2010 and 2014.

"Ryan Getzlaf's impact on the Ducks will be felt for generations to come," the Samuelis said. His No. 15 becomes only the fourth retired by the Ducks, joining Teemu Selanne (8), Paul Kariya (9), and Scott Niedermayer (27). Getzlaf expressed gratitude to the organization, teammates, and fans.

The Ducks will host the Nashville Predators on retirement night, preceded by a 20-year reunion of the 2007 Cup team against the Chicago Blackhawks. Getzlaf and Corey Perry, both drafted in 2003, starred on that title team; Perry, now 41, continues his career with the Los Angeles Kings.
