Rookie quarterback Ty Simpson delivered a promising NFL debut, leading the Los Angeles Rams to a 20-12 preseason victory over the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday. Playing the final three quarters, Simpson completed 21 of 25 passes for 190 yards with two touchdown passes and no interceptions. Head coach Sean Mc Vay praised Simpson's poise and command of the offense, noting his ability to read plays and keep the ball in play.

Simpson, the 13th overall pick and second quarterback selected in this year's draft, became the first player since Baker Mayfield in 2018 to record 190 passing yards and two touchdown passes in a preseason debut. Both of his touchdown passes went to running back Dean Connors, and he connected with seven different receivers.

Despite limited practice time during training camp due to Matthew Stafford's presence, Simpson remained composed, saying the game felt like playing in the backyard after the opening drive. He emphasized focusing on self-improvement rather than the backup quarterback competition with Stetson Bennett IV, who started the game and went 4-of-6 for 38 yards.
