The 2026 Los Angeles Rams training camp opened at Loyola Marymount University with quarterback Matthew Stafford healthy after missing most of last year's camp due to a back injury. Coach Sean McVay confirmed Stafford is "feeling good" but will follow a modified schedule, skipping practices on Days 1 and 3 of four-day blocks to stay fresh for the Week 1 game against the 49ers in Melbourne, Australia on Sept. 10 (8:35 p.m. ET, Netflix).

Wide receiver Puka Nacua reported to camp, entering the final year of his rookie deal alongside 2023 draftees Kobie Turner, Byron Young, and Steve Avila. McVay acknowledged internal contract extension talks but noted other roster priorities. The Rams signed first-round pick Ty Simpson (No. 13 overall), the last first-rounder to agree to terms.

Stafford's limited reps will create extended opportunities for backup quarterbacks Simpson and Stetson Bennett IV to compete for the No. 2 job. McVay called it a "very important" position battle. Veteran Davante Adams (13th season) may also receive a managed workload. For the second straight year, right guard Kevin Dotson arrived with the Rams' horns dyed into his hair.
