Las Vegas Raiders coach Klint Kubiak declined to provide details on running back Ashton Jeanty's injury Tuesday, simply saying, "He's on the mend." Jeanty is believed to have sprained his ankle during Sunday's practice, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Jeanty was hurt while diving for a low pass from quarterback Kirk Cousins, landing awkwardly on the turf and unable to put pressure on his right leg as trainers helped him off. Teammates and coaches took a knee in prayer after he left the field.

Kubiak praised Jeanty's recovery, saying, "Again, Ashton got hurt in practice, and the whole team took a knee. That says a lot about him being on the mend and counting on him." The coach moved practice outdoors following the injury, a decision he didn't elaborate on.

With Jeanty sidelined, rookie running back Mike Washington Jr. has taken most starter reps. Washington has 15 carries for 119 yards in two preseason games, averaging 7.9 yards per carry, including a 53-yard run. Kubiak noted Washington's rapid growth, saying, "He's done a phenomenal job of growing up really fast."
