George Pickens reported to the Dallas Cowboys mandatory minicamp Tuesday after sitting out the voluntary offseason program. The wide receiver told reporters he is prepared to play the 2026 season on the franchise tag, emphasizing football over contract talks. He arrived for individual drills and caught passes from Dak Prescott, signaling his commitment to the team and proved his route‑running still sharp.

Earlier this year the Cowboys placed Pickens on the $27.3 million franchise tender after Jerry Jones and coach Brian Schottenheimer decided against a long‑term deal. Pickens said he wasn’t surprised by the approach and appreciated the transparency. In 2025 he posted career‑best numbers—93 catches, 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns—making him a key offensive weapon, making him one of the league’s emerging playmakers.

During Tuesday’s session Pickens ran routes, made a reception and broke into a quick dance, drawing cheers from teammates like Javonte Williams. Coach Schottenheimer kept him out of 7‑on‑7 drills to limit injury risk, but expects a full ramp‑up once training camp opens in Oxnard. His presence bolsters Dallas’ receiving corps heading into 2026, and his chemistry with Prescott remains a bright spot for the offense.
