Panthers Lock Up Receiver Jalen Coker With $35M Extension

The Carolina Panthers secured one of their emerging offensive weapons Thursday, agreeing to a three-year, $35 million contract extension with wide receiver Jalen Coker. Agent Matt Glose confirmed the deal to NFL Network, which includes incentives that could push the total value to $41 million. The move keeps Coker in Carolina through at least the 2029 season.

Coker entered the league as an undrafted free agent from Holy Cross before signing with the Panthers in April 2024. Serving as the No. 2 receiver behind Tet McMillan, he's compiled 65 receptions for 872 yards and five touchdowns across 22 games over two seasons. His development has been steady but unspectacular, making this extension a calculated bet on continued growth.

Coker's standout performance came during the Panthers' playoff loss to the Los Angeles Rams in January, where he recorded nine catches for 134 yards and a touchdown. When asked about the contract, Coker kept it simple: 'I'm just excited to play for this team, that's all it is.'

The extension provides stability for quarterback Bryce Young's receiving corps while the Panthers continue building their offense around younger players. Coker's proven playoff capability suggests he could be a reliable second option as the team aims to improve on their recent performances.
