Tom Moore, 87, returns to Iowa as offensive adviser after legendary NFL career

The seasoned coach will join Iowa as senior consultant to head coach Kirk Ferentz, bringing four Super Bowl championships to the Hawkeyes' program. Moore lettered as a quarterback and kicker for Iowa in 1959-60 before launching a coaching career that spanned both college and professional football.

Moore began his coaching journey as a graduate assistant at his alma mater before making stops at Dayton, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech and Minnesota. His NFL résumé includes assistant positions with the Steelers, Vikings, Lions, Saints and Colts, plus consulting roles with the Jets, Titans, Cardinals and Buccaneers.

Ferentz expressed enthusiasm about adding a four-time Super Bowl champion to his staff. The 87-year-old Moore, who will turn 88 during the upcoming season, brings decades of offensive expertise to Iowa at a time when the program seeks to regain its competitive edge in the Big Ten Conference.
