At his Tuesday press conference, Todd Monken confirmed he’s still talking with Jim Schwartz, the veteran defensive coordinator whose future in Cleveland remains uncertain. Monken declined to comment on Schwartz’s rumored departure, calling speculation “a little inappropriate.” The Browns’ front office, led by Andrew Berry, has yet to make a decision.

Monken emphasized he chose Cleveland for its roster, not to “chip” Schwartz but to build around Myles Garrett and a revamped offense. After three seasons of the league’s fewest yards allowed, the Browns still rank last in points per game (15.8). He arrives from the Baltimore Ravens where he served as offensive coordinator.

Quarterback depth remains a question; Monken left Shedeur Sanders’ status as starter “still to be determined.” He expressed excitement about every QB in the room and promised to call plays himself. Fans will watch how quickly the offense improves and whether the defense stays elite under Schwartz or a new leader.
