Michael Penix Jr. has played 17 career NFL games, completing 61.5% of his passes for 3,914 yards, 21 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. After returning from a torn ACL, he led the Atlanta Falcons to a 29-20 win over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 7, earning NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors. The Falcons have won three of five games since his return.
Penix's advanced stats show he is at least as good as an average NFL starter, with a 45.4% success rate and 0.03 EPA per dropback since his rookie year. This season, he ranks ninth in ESPN QBR (67.1) and 13th in EPA per dropback (0.09). The Falcons will decide on his fifth-year option this offseason, hoping he becomes their franchise quarterback since Matt Ryan's departure in 2022.
