Mel Kiper's 2026 NFL Mock Draft: Raiders, Jets land top prospects

ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. has released his second 2026 NFL mock draft projection ahead of the scouting combine in Indianapolis. The Las Vegas Raiders are projected to select Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza with the No. 1 overall pick, addressing their ongoing search for a franchise quarterback after the Derek Carr era. New coach Klint Kubiak would have a young signal-caller to build around.

New York Jets are expected to take Ohio State safety Caleb Downs at No. 2, marking the highest selection for a safety since 1991. Downs' ball skills and defensive instincts could immediately upgrade a Jets secondary that recorded zero interceptions in 2025. The Arizona Cardinals are projected to select Texas Tech edge rusher David Bailey at No. 3, addressing their need for pass rush help after recording just 30 sacks last season.

Tennessee Titans are expected to take Ohio State linebacker Arvell Reese at No. 4, while the New York Giants would select Utah offensive tackle Spencer Fano at No. 5. Kiper notes that team needs could shift dramatically during free agency in March, potentially altering these projections before the April 23 draft. The combine workouts could also produce significant risers as more than 300 prospects showcase their abilities.
