Kyler Murray-Cardinals Communication Dispute Emerges

A source has contradicted Arizona Cardinals GM Monti Ossenfort's claim that he has spoken with quarterback Kyler Murray about last season. While Ossenfort stated Tuesday at the NFL combine that he maintains "good dialogue" with Murray, the source told ESPN that the two have not communicated since the season ended.

Murray played in only five games last season before suffering a foot injury in Week 5 against the Titans. He was placed on injured reserve in early November, and coach Jonathan Gannon announced in December that Murray would not return for the remainder of the season. The quarterback's future with the organization has been uncertain since his injuries.

Arizona faces a critical decision about Murray's status within three weeks. If he remains on the active roster on the fifth day of the league year, he's owed a guaranteed roster bonus of $19.5 million for 2027. Ossenfort has stated that "all options are on the table" regarding Murray's future, though he noted that Murray, Jacoby Brissett, and Kedon Slovis are all under contract for 2026.
