Kittle Targets Week 1 Return From Achilles

George Kittle believes he's on track to return for the 49ers' Week 1 opener against the Rams in Australia, 19 weeks after tearing his right Achilles. The tight end says the injury is "doing great" with no setbacks, despite the devastating nature of the injury suffered during January's playoff win against Philadelphia.

Kittle's rehabilitation progress became evident during OTAs as he performed single leg hops and 20- to 30-yard jogs. He resumed full body weight jogging two weeks ago. The long flight to Australia poses a potential complication, but Dr. Neal ElAttrache previously suggested the tear location allowed for faster healing due to better blood flow.

Coach Kyle Shanahan expressed confidence in Kittle's work ethic, noting if anyone can return quickly, it's the talented tight end. Kittle called the mental process "pretty easy" despite missing a playoff game. His first "major" injury occurred January 11 against Philadelphia, forcing him to miss the divisional round against Seattle.
