Jaxson Dart was sent to the blue medical tent for a concussion check after taking a big hit from Jay Ward in Saturday's 13-10 preseason loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Dart, who underwent five concussion checks during his rookie season, said he was "puzzled" by the latest request, noting he only had the wind knocked out of him.

Dart was diagnosed with one concussion last year that cost him two games. Right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor suggested the scrutiny is heightened because Dart plays in New York. Coach John Harbaugh was also surprised by the medical spotter's call but acknowledged their duty to err on the side of player safety.

Dart was replaced by backup Jameis Winston for two plays before returning and throwing a 15-yard touchdown pass to rookie Malachi Fields on his first snap back. He finished 3-of-4 for 26 yards with a touchdown and was sacked twice. Harbaugh had no reservations about putting him back in, stating "he was fine."
