The Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to a one-year, $15 million contract with free agent cornerback Riq Woolen, his agent Jason Chayut confirmed to ESPN. The 26-year-old departs the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks to join Philadelphia, where he'll compete for a starting role opposite Quinyon Mitchell. This marks the Eagles' first outside free agent signing since the negotiating period began.

Woolen brings impressive credentials to Philadelphia, having recorded 41 pass breakups and 12 interceptions since entering the league as a fifth-round pick in 2022. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound defender showcased elite athleticism at the 2022 scouting combine with a 4.26 40-yard dash and 42-inch vertical jump. Despite falling to pick No. 151 due to limited college experience at cornerback, Woolen made the Pro Bowl as a rookie after tying for the league lead with six interceptions.

However, Woolen's recent performance has been inconsistent. While his 78.7 passer rating against in 2024 ranked 16th among qualified defenders, he struggled with critical mistakes in key moments, including the decisive touchdown in a December loss to Minnesota. After losing his starting job early in 2025, Woolen rebounded significantly, posting the sixth-best passer rating against (57.2) over the final 12 games. The Eagles are betting on Woolen's upside as they strengthen their secondary.
