The Miami Dolphins are hiring Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley as their next head coach, sources told ESPN. Hafley, 46, interviewed with Miami for a second time on Monday. He joins new general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan, with whom he overlapped for two seasons in Green Bay.

Hafley's Packers defense ranked ninth in yards allowed per game and eighth in points allowed over his two-year tenure. Miami's hiring marks the franchise's eighth straight head coach with no prior NFL head coaching experience. The Dolphins are seeking to end a 25-season playoff win drought, the NFL's longest.

His coaching career includes a stint as Boston College's head coach and defensive coordinator roles at Ohio State and San Francisco. The Dolphins are undergoing a reset after firing GM Chris Grier and head coach Mike McDaniel. Sullivan has identified several young players as building blocks for the future.
