Cowboys Face Pickens Uncertainty as Offseason Looms

Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer remains unsure whether franchise-tagged wide receiver George Pickens will attend the team's upcoming offseason program. Speaking from the NFL meetings in Phoenix, Schottenheimer said he hasn't pushed Pickens on attendance, noting the program starts in a couple of weeks and participation is voluntary.

Pickens, acquired from the Pittsburgh Steelers in a trade last May, established career highs with 93 catches for 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns in 2025. The 27.3 million dollar franchise tag has created uncertainty about his long-term future with the team. Schottenheimer confirmed no contract discussions have occurred with Pickens' representatives since the tag was applied.

The situation echoes last year's drama with pass rusher Micah Parsons, who eventually forced a trade to the Green Bay Packers. Schottenheimer maintains the team wants Pickens long-term, saying 'We love GP' and have plans for him to remain in Dallas, but is letting the business side play out.
