The Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to a multiyear deal with Eric Bieniemy to return as their offensive coordinator, a source told ESPN. Bieniemy held the role from 2018 to 2022 and helped guide the unit to consistent offensive success, including during their Super Bowl run in 2022.

Bieniemy’s return comes after the Chiefs parted ways with Matt Nagy, whose contract expired following a disappointing 6-11 season. Nagy struggled to maximize the offense, particularly in man coverage situations. Patrick Mahomes posted his lowest completion rate under pressure, and the run game ranked among the NFL’s worst.

Reuniting with Andy Reid and Mahomes, Bieniemy is expected to revitalize the Chiefs' struggling attack. His focus will be developing young receivers like Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy, and improving production from the backfield. In Chicago this past season, he boosted a run game that ranked second in the league.

Travis Kelce praised the move, calling Bieniemy “one of my favorite coaches.” The reunion also sparked optimism among fans eager to see a more dynamic offense in 2026.
