Arizona Cardinals director of college scouting Ryan Gold was suspended indefinitely last week for violating the NFL's gambling policy. His attorney, Mike Caspino, called the league's accusations "blatantly false" and confirmed Gold is appealing the suspension. Caspino praised Gold as an "outstanding NFL executive for over a decade."

The NFL determined Gold provided confidential, nonpublic inside information regarding 2026 draft selections and participated in parlay bets on NFL and college games. Caspino countered that the gambling activity involved Gold's wife making $10 weekly bets with high school friends and that Gold was not involved. He also argued Gold could not have divulged draft picks because only team owner Michael Bidwill and general manager Monti Ossenfort knew the selections.

The Cardinals fully cooperated with the investigation and issued a statement supporting the league's decision. The NFL found no indication other organization members were aware or involved, nor that any play or game was affected. Gold, in his 13th season with the Cardinals, was promoted to director of college scouting in June 2025.
