Browns Withdraw NFL Draft Trade Proposal

The Cleveland Browns have withdrawn their proposal to expand NFL draft pick trading windows from three to five years, according to NFL Network. The rule change would have been considered at the annual league meeting in Phoenix this week, requiring 24 of 32 teams to approve the modification.

Under current NFL rules, teams can trade draft picks up to three years in advance, compared to a seven-year window in the NBA. The Browns argued that extending the trading period would create a more active market and provide greater roster flexibility. A new generation of general managers has already increased trade activity in recent seasons.

Six first-round picks from this year's draft have already been traded, including the Denver Broncos sending their first-rounder to the Miami Dolphins for receiver Jaylen Waddle. The proposal's withdrawal means teams will continue operating under the existing three-year trading window for the foreseeable future.
