Pittsburgh Steelers offensive tackle Broderick Jones has received medical clearance to return to practice, eight months after sustaining a season-ending neck injury. The injury, which occurred in Week 12 against the Chicago Bears, initially led Jones to fear for his playing career. He underwent spinal fusion surgery and a lengthy rehabilitation, including over three months without physical activity.

Jones, a 2023 first-round pick, is currently taking snaps with the second-team offensive line at both left and right tackle. He expressed his desire to regain his strength and weight, aiming for 310-315 pounds. He also drew strength from teammates DK Metcalf and Asante Samuel Jr., who had similar injury experiences.

The Steelers' decision to decline Jones' fifth-year option and draft another offensive tackle was understood by Jones as a business move. Despite the competition and past uncertainties, Jones remains focused on his return and believes he can be a starter this season, with coach Mike McCarthy echoing that sentiment, calling him a "starter-level" player.
