49ers Concern Over Pearsall's Knee Flare-Up

San Francisco 49ers receiver Ricky Pearsall missed practice Wednesday due to swelling in his right knee's posterior cruciate ligament, the same injury that sidelined him for part of last season. The team expressed "concern" and is "exploring all options," potentially including surgery for an injury that has bothered Pearsall since Week 4 of last year.

Pearsall's injury history with the knee is extensive, having missed multiple games in the previous season due to the issue and subsequent aggravations. With fellow receiver Christian Kirk also sidelined by a calf injury, the 49ers are already without two key wideouts. This situation opens opportunities for players like Demarcus Robinson, Jordan Watkins, Jacob Cowing, and rookie De'Zhaun Stribling.

Offensive coordinator Klay Kubiak noted the growth and competition within the receiver room. In addition to Pearsall and Kirk, other players are dealing with injuries: safety Malik Mustapha (hamstring strain), running back Jordan James (rib fracture), offensive tackle Vederian Lowe (high ankle sprain), and defensive tackle Gracen Halton (knee bone bruise).
