Michigan wing Yaxel Lendeborg entered the NBA draft a decade after proclaiming he “used to hate Steph Curry” as a Kyrie fan. The Warriors selected him 11th overall, handing him a Warriors hat and a seat beside the 38‑year‑old point guard. Lendeborg called the moment “full circle,” saying he looks forward to learning from Curry on the floor, and excitement.

In his final college season Lendeborg transferred to Michigan, averaged 15.1 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.3 assists while shooting 59% and earned Big Ten Player of the Year en route to a national title. At 23, almost 24, he raised concerns about age, but GM Mike Dunleavy dismissed them, noting the roster already features aging stars like Curry (38) and Draymond Green (36).

With Curry, Green and Al Horford dealing with injuries, the Warriors need a plug‑and‑play frontcourt that can defend, pass and stretch the floor. Dunleavy praised Lendeborg’s versatility, saying his size lets him guard multiple positions and his shooting opens lineups. His selection gives Golden State a ready‑made option that could ease the pressure significantly on upcoming free‑agency moves.
