Warriors Lock In Gui Santos With $15M Extension

The Golden State Warriors have secured forward Gui Santos with a three-year, $15 million contract extension that includes a player option for the 2028-29 season, sources told ESPN. The deal keeps Santos contractually tied to the franchise for at least two more seasons after his emergence as a key rotation player.

Santos represents a developmental success story for Golden State, selected 55th overall out of Brazil in the 2022 NBA draft. After starting his career with the Santa Cruz Warriors, he spent the last three seasons on minimum deals with the main roster. His opportunity expanded dramatically when Jimmy Butler tore his ACL, allowing Santos to step into a starting role.

The 23-year-old Brazilian has capitalized on his chance, scoring in double figures in 11 of the past 12 games while averaging 31 minutes per game this month. Rather than risk losing him to restricted free agency in July, the Warriors acted preemptively to secure his services through at least the 2027-28 season.
