The Golden State Warriors have agreed to hire longtime NBA coach Frank Vogel as associate head coach under Steve Kerr, league sources told ESPN's Shams Charania. Vogel, 53, fills the void left by departing assistant Terry Stotts.

Vogel has been a head coach for four franchises spanning 12 total seasons. He led the Los Angeles Lakers to an NBA championship in 2020 and took the Indiana Pacers to two conference finals in 2013 and 2014.

His most recent head coaching stop came in Phoenix during the 2023-24 season, a 49-33 record that ended in a first-round sweep by Minnesota. Vogel spent the past two seasons with the Dallas Mavericks as a consultant and then front-of-bench assistant.

The hiring headlines a staff makeover after Stotts, Jerry Stackhouse, and Chris De Marco all departed. Vogel is expected to assume primary responsibility for defensive gameplanning.
