The Oklahoma City Thunder have signed forward Payton Sandfort to a two-way contract and waived guard Buddy Boeheim, the team announced Monday. Sandfort, a 6-foot-7 rookie from Iowa, has been playing for the Thunder's G-League affiliate, the Oklahoma City Blue, where he's averaged 11.0 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 21 games this season.

Sandfort's college career at Iowa was impressive, particularly his senior year when he averaged 16.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 2.9 assists. His strong performance in the G-League caught the Thunder's attention, leading to this opportunity. The two-way contract allows him to split time between the NBA team and its developmental affiliate.

Boeheim, who was signed to a two-way contract on Feb. 6, has been waived to make room for Sandfort. The move reflects the Thunder's strategy of developing young talent through their G-League system. Sandfort's addition provides depth at the forward position as Oklahoma City continues its season.
