Indiana Pacers forward Johnny Furphy will miss the remainder of the 2025-26 NBA season after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during Sunday's game against the Toronto Raptors. The second-year player suffered the injury in the third quarter of Indiana's 122-104 loss and underwent an MRI at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York that confirmed the severity of the damage.

Furphy's injury compounds the Pacers' already extensive injury woes. The team is navigating a season plagued by absences, including Tyrese Haliburton's torn Achilles tendon that ended his season after last year's NBA Finals. Other key contributors like Andrew Nembhard, Aaron Nesmith, Obi Toppin, and T.J. McConnell have all missed time with various ailments. The injury-riddled roster has contributed to Indiana's league-worst 13-40 record heading into their game against the New York Knicks.

The 2024 second-round draft pick from Kansas had been seizing opportunities in 21 starts, averaging 5.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game. His absence leaves the Pacers even thinner on the frontcourt, especially concerning as they await the return of newly acquired center Ivica Zubac, who has been sidelined since December with an ankle injury.
