Free agent forward Matisse Thybulle has agreed to a one-year, $3.3 million deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, sources told ESPN. A two-time All-Defensive team member, Thybulle discussed his potential role with JJ Redick and Luka Doncic, ultimately choosing the Lakers to enhance their wing defense.

Over the past two seasons, Thybulle shot 41.8% from three-point range and led the NBA in steals and deflections per 36 minutes among qualified players last season. He had considered returning to the Portland Trail Blazers, but felt their offers were not serious. While sign-and-trade discussions with Portland could have increased his salary, a deal could not be reached.

The signing brings the Lakers' roster to 16 guaranteed salaries. The team has until late October to potentially consolidate their roster through trades. L.A. also explored signing Jonathan Kuminga, but those talks have not advanced.
