Damian Lillard will make his first public appearance since tearing his Achilles tendon when he competes in the NBA All-Star 3-point contest. The two-time champion, who hasn't played this season while recovering from the injury, will join an elite field including Devin Booker, Tyrese Maxey, and Donovan Mitchell. Lillard's participation marks a significant milestone in his rehabilitation journey after the injury occurred last spring while he was with the Milwaukee Bucks.

This unexpected return comes as Lillard continues his recovery from the torn Achilles he suffered in April 2025. The 34-year-old guard, who spent 11 seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers before brief stints with Milwaukee and Miami, won consecutive 3-point contests in 2023 and 2024. A victory in Inglewood would make him only the third three-time winner alongside Larry Bird and Craig Hodges. The contest format has been altered for this year, now kicking off All-Star Saturday before the Shooting Stars and dunk contests.

Lillard's inclusion is particularly noteworthy given his current status as a free agent following Milwaukee's decision to stretch his $113 million contract. His participation represents not just a competitive comeback but also a symbolic return to the Portland uniform he wore for over a decade. The 2012 sixth overall draft pick has been working diligently on his recovery, and this All-Star showcase provides fans their first glimpse of his progress since the devastating injury that altered his 2025 season trajectory.
