James, Embiid play preseason finale; team 'still working on our rhythm.'
Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid rejected the narrative that anyone needs to sacrifice for this star-laden team to succeed, saying players should do what they do best and be supported.
Without second-year starting guard VJ Edgecombe, who missed the game for precautionary reasons after the 125-120 loss to the Boston Celtics, Embiid was dominant: 27 points, eight rebounds, five assists. He even dunked in the third quarter, calling it 'good to dunk. I thought I would never dunk again.'
Yet the group never looked comfortable together on the floor. Brown cited poor spacing leading to turnovers as one of many things to fix. James echoed, saying 'we're still working on our rhythm, working on our kinks, and it's not going to be perfect.' The Sixers open the regular season against the New York Knicks on Tuesday.
