Toronto Raptors guard Jamal Shead has agreed to a three-year, $24 million contract extension with the franchise, his agent, KJ Smith, told ESPN on Thursday. The new deal keeps Shead, 24, under contract through the 2029-30 season. He lands an extension just two seasons after the Houston product was selected with the 45th overall pick in the 2024 NBA draft.
The 6-foot-1 guard had 354 assists (5.4 per game) in 2025-26 -- a league-best off the bench and the most in franchise history for a reserve player. He played in all 82 regular-season games -- one of 18 NBA players to do so -- while averaging 6.6 points and 1.7 rebounds.
Shead saw action in seven playoff games (four starts), averaging nine points, five assists and 1.4 steals. He ranked fifth in the league in assist-to-turnover ratio last season.
