Philadelphia 76ers backup center Ariel Hukporti exited Monday's preseason opener against the New York Knicks early due to a right leg injury. The noncontact issue occurred with 7:06 remaining in the first quarter when Hukporti fell on the defensive end and grabbed his lower right leg. He was helped off the floor during a timeout.

Coach Nick Nurse confirmed Hukporti will undergo imaging on his right Achilles Tuesday. Joel Embiid sat out the game as a healthy scratch, joining LeBron James and Tyrese Maxey. The 76ers were also missing backup centers Adem Bona and Tacko Fall.

Bona is recovering from a left foot sprain, while Fall was diagnosed with a left hip sprain after an MRI last Wednesday. Philadelphia faces the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday before hosting Boston on Oct. 16. The regular-season opener is Oct. 20 in New York against the Knicks.
