New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone confirmed Max Fried will come off the injured list for Saturday's doubleheader against the Boston Red Sox. The left-hander was placed on the 15-day injured list Aug. 17 with a left elbow bone bruise, retroactive to Aug. 14. Fried was sidelined previously from May 14 until July 22 with the same issue.

The three-time All-Star is 4-4 with a 2.81 ERA in 15 starts this season. Fellow left-hander Carlos Rodon is scheduled to start the other game of the day-night doubleheader. New York was set to begin a critical four-game series Friday night against Boston, who trailed the Yankees by two games in the race for the top American League wild card.

The Yankees entered the series four games behind first-place Tampa Bay in the AL East while awaiting the return of star slugger Aaron Judge from a broken rib.
