The Chicago White Sox have agreed to a two-year, $20 million contract with free agent reliever Seranthony Domínguez, pending a physical. The deal includes a mutual option and could reach $22 million with incentives. This marks Chicago's third multiyear signing this winter, joining Munetaka Murakami and Anthony Kay as the team builds a more competitive roster.

Domínguez, 30, brings elite velocity to the back end of the bullpen, with a fastball that sits at 98 mph and five above-average pitches. He'll likely assume the closer role immediately, joining hard-throwing young right-handers Grant Taylor and Jordan Leasure. His move to the South Side continues a career that included stints with Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Toronto.

Last season with the Blue Jays, Domínguez posted a career-high 62⅔ innings, striking out 79 while walking 36. His primary challenge remains consistent command, but his raw stuff makes him a potential trade asset if he performs well. The White Sox are clearly transitioning from their 121-loss 2024 season toward contention.
