Trevor Rogers will take the mound for the Baltimore Orioles in the home opener against the New York Yankees on Tuesday night, after a brief illness kept him on the injured list. The 2‑3, 4.75 ERA left‑hander had six starts this season and was the team’s Opening Day starter to face a potent Yankees lineup in the season's opening days.

Alongside Rogers, the Orioles recalled Tyler Wells from Triple‑A Norfolk, where he was optioned on May 2. Wells, a 14‑appearance reliever this season, posts a 0‑1 record and a 3.44 ERA. Grant Wolfram, who has 20 strikeouts and only one walk in 13 innings, is placed on the 15‑day injured list, opening a roster spot for the team’s bullpen depth.

The outfield saw Dylan Beavers scratched because of a right oblique strain, with Colton Cowser shifting to center to keep the lineup balanced. To accommodate Rogers, Baltimore sent right‑handed reliever Jose Espada to Norfolk, clearing a spot on the 26‑man roster for the upcoming series against New York in the home opener.

With Rogers back, the Orioles aim to strengthen their starting rotation as they chase a late‑season surge. The move underscores Baltimore’s intent to battle the Yankees early in the season, setting the tone for the rest of the campaign and improve their playoff chances significantly.
