In exchange for Skubal, the Tigers acquired several prospects, including outfield prospect Zyhir Hope, potential front-of-the-rotation starter River Ryan, and projectable starter Brady Smith. Harris took full responsibility for the team's position, noting that while he dislikes selling, it would have been irresponsible to pass up the available value given the player's market.

Despite the trade of Skubal and Casey Mize, Harris insisted the Tigers are not waiving the white flag. The team remains in contention for a playoff spot, sitting just 2.5 games out. Harris believes the high ceilings of the acquired prospects will provide significant long-term impact for the organization.
