Shane Bieber rejoined the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday and could return from the injured list within days, manager John Schneider confirmed. The 2020 AL Cy Young Award winner has been sidelined since March with elbow inflammation that later became a 60-day IL placement. Bieber threw a rehab start for Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday, allowing five runs on 11 baserunners while reaching 93 mph on his fastball.

After joining the team in Chicago, Bieber will throw a side session at Wrigley Field on Saturday before potentially rejoining Toronto's rotation Monday. "He's feeling good," Schneider said. "All signs point towards he'll be ready to go." Bieber, 31, has a 16 million player option that he exercised in the offseason to stay with Toronto rather than test free agency. He posted a 3.57 ERA in seven starts for the Blue Jays after returning from Tommy John surgery last season.

The Blue Jays also made roster moves Friday, recalling left-hander Brendon Little while optioning Chad Dallas to Triple-A Buffalo. Toronto's rotation remains depleted with Bieber's imminent return representing a significant boost. The two-time All-Star will provide depth as the team continues its playoff push with his proven track record of success following major arm surgery.
