Shane Bieber rejoined the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday and could return from the injured list within days, manager John Schneider confirmed. The 2020 AL Cy Young Award winner has been sidelined since March with elbow inflammation that later became a 60-day IL placement. Bieber threw a rehab start for Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday, allowing five runs on 11 baserunners while reaching 93 mph on his fastball.

After joining the team in Chicago, Bieber will throw a side session at Wrigley Field on Saturday before potentially rejoining Toronto's rotation Monday. "He's feeling good," Schneider said. "All signs point towards he'll be ready to go." Bieber, 31, has a 16 million player option that he exercised in the offseason to stay with Toronto rather than test free agency.
