Rangers Take Two of Three From Phillies

MacKenzie Gore dominated in his Texas Rangers debut, striking out seven batters and taking a no-hitter into the sixth inning as the Rangers defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 8-3. Gore's impressive performance continued his success against the Phillies, who he's struck out 13 times in previous matchups.

The Rangers' offense got going early with Brandon Nimmo's two-run homer in the second, his first with Texas. Nimmo, who heard constant boos from Phillies fans throughout the series due to his history with the Mets, later watched as Andrew McCutchen launched a three-run homer in the fourth. McCutchen jokingly apologized to a Phillies friend after his homer.

The victory gave Texas two of three games in the series against the defending NL East champion Phillies. Gore, acquired via trade for five prospects, left after plunking Alec Bohm in the sixth, having allowed just one hit. Bryce Harper struggled against Gore, striking out with the bases loaded as the Phillies' offense failed to solve the left-hander.
