Texas Rangers top prospect Sebastian Walcott will undergo UCL surgery, likely sidelining the 19-year-old infielder for most of the 2026 season. Rangers president of baseball operations Chris Young announced Thursday that Walcott has been dealing with elbow discomfort and was diagnosed with a UCL injury.

Walcott, ranked No. 7 overall by MLB Pipeline and No. 5 by ESPN's Kiley McDaniel, batted .255 with 13 home runs, 59 RBIs, and 32 stolen bases at Double-A Frisco last season. The shortstop primarily played at Frisco before receiving a nonroster invite to spring training.

The injury represents a significant setback for both Walcott and the Rangers organization, which has invested heavily in developing the young talent. While Walcott could potentially return by season's end, Young cautioned that it's too early to determine a specific timeline for his recovery.
