The Orioles placed first baseman Ryan Mountcastle on the injured list after he suffered a broken fourth metatarsal bone in his left foot. Mountcastle left Saturday's game with left foot pain after stumbling while running from first to second on a double. Manager Craig Albernaz called the injury "tough" following Baltimore's 6-2 victory over the San Francisco Giants.

Mountcastle, 29, is hitting .286 with one RBI in eight games this season. He saw limited playing time behind Pete Alonso, who handled first base duties for Baltimore. Last season, Mountcastle appeared in just 89 games, missing more than two months with a strained right hamstring. He finished 2025 with a .250 average, seven home runs, and 35 RBIs.

Outfielder Tyler O'Neill also landed on the IL with a concussion. Albernaz said O'Neill was ill for a week and fainted Thursday while dealing with dehydration. "As he was getting worked on to play, he just felt dizzy," Albernaz explained. The manager noted there was "encouraging news" from catcher Adley Rutschman's MRI exam after he was placed on the 10-day IL with left ankle inflammation.
