Orioles' Jackson Holliday Set for Rehab Assignment Friday

The Baltimore Orioles announced that top prospect Jackson Holliday will begin a rehab assignment with the Triple-A Norfolk Tides on Friday. Holliday suffered a broken hamate bone in his right hand during batting practice in February and underwent surgery on Feb. 12. The injury initially sidelined him for Opening Day.

Holliday's return comes as the Orioles prepare to open their season Thursday against the Minnesota Twins at Camden Yards. With second baseman Jordan Westburg also dealing with an elbow injury, utility player Blaze Alexander could see extended playing time early in the season. The timing suggests Holliday won't miss significant time with the big-league club.

Last season, the No. 1 pick in the 2022 draft batted .242 with 17 home runs and 55 RBIs in 149 games. His quick return from surgery would provide a boost to Baltimore's infield depth as they aim to build on their recent success.
