Mookie Betts Takes Swing at Voice Acting While Dodgers Struggles Continue

Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Mookie Betts is stepping into voice acting for Disney Jr.'s Marvel series, portraying baseball character Dizzy Doubleday in Friday's episode of 'Marvel's Iron Man and his Awesome Friends.' The eight-time All-Star lends his voice to a storyline about building a baseball field threatened by supervillain Swarm.

Betts joins former softball Olympian Jessica Mendoza, who voices Dottie Doubleday, owner of the local batting cage. The episode combines superhero adventures with America's pastime, featuring young Tony Stark, Riri Williams and Amadeus Cho working to protect their newly constructed diamond.

While Betts expands his entertainment portfolio, his baseball performance tells a different story. The six-time Gold Glove winner entered Wednesday hitting just .190, though Tuesday's two-hit performance against Pittsburgh suggests potential improvement ahead. His offensive struggles mark a stark contrast to his championship pedigree and previous consistent production at the plate.

This isn't Betts' first venture beyond baseball. He previously served as executive producer on a Jackie Robinson legacy film and made a cameo in 'The Naked Gun' promo. These media appearances provide distraction from what's become a challenging season at the plate.
