MLB Suspends Cavalli, Contreras Seven Games for Fenway Brawl

Major League Baseball suspended Nationals pitcher Cade Cavalli and Red Sox first baseman Willson Contreras seven games each following a benches-clearing incident at Fenway Park. The discipline stems from an altercation in the fourth inning of Tuesday night's game, where Cavalli struck out Contreras and exchanged words. Contreras then charged the mound and attempted to throw his helmet.

Contreras, who is Venezuelan, declined to comment on the racial implications of Cavalli's remark, "Sit down, boy," stating he would let MLB handle it. Cavalli, who was not ejected, later apologized, expressing deep remorse over how his words were perceived and the potential impact on young fans.

Additionally, Nationals pitcher Miles Mikolas received a five-game ban, and Red Sox outfielder Nate Eaton was suspended for three games. All four players also incurred undisclosed fines. If no appeals are filed, the suspensions are set to begin Friday, impacting both teams' pitching and outfield depth.
